 Michael Philpott, Consumer Practice Leader Michael Philpott is practice leader of Ovum's Consumer team. He is also a principal analyst specialising in broadband access strategy and technology. As practice leader, Michael is responsible for Ovum's consumer telecoms research team in areas including connected home, broadband access, wireless multimedia and broadband content. Michael's contribution to this research includes reports in areas of broadband technology, operator broadband strategy and broadband markets, as well as detailed broadband network cost modelling and service-demand forecasting. Michael is well known on the conference circuit, providing his analytical views on broadband markets and technologies on behalf of Ovum and its clients. Michael joined Ovum in September 2000 as a consultant in the Networks and Infrastructure team. During this time he managed several consulting projects for leading telecoms operators, equipment vendors, large utility companies and financial institutions. In 2003 Michael became manager of the Broadband@Ovum service. In 2004 he helped to establish Ovum's Telecommunications Technology group, and in 2006 developed and launched Ovum's ConnectedHome@Ovum service.
